We just took our GSD to the vet today and he prescribed Dasuquin with MSM for her hip dysplasia.

cosequin. my dog was collapsing under her own weight and after 2 1/2 weeks on cosequin, it hasn't happened since. while waiting for the cosequin to start working, i massaged her joints every morning and sometimes gave her a childrens aspirin for the pain.
another thing i've just started doing is adding vitamin c to her food. vitamin c produces collagen in the body and is recommended for arthritis and hip dysplasia. be sure to use powdered pure sodium ascorbate, regular vitamin c is hard on their stomachs and this kind improves the absorption. you can find this at a health food store. just add a pinch to every meal.

I can't tell you that this is the best treatment for your dog but this is what works for mine. My 110# Husky has Hip Dysplaysia as well as arthritis, he has had surgery on one hip already, anyways our vet had reccomended Cosequin at first but I use a product called Next Level Joint care for my horses which also has dosing for dogs, so I showed my vet and he said it was actually better then the Cosequin. Next Level is natural and has more concentrated amounts of glucosamine as well as other natural ingredients. We also give him a buffered apirin if he gets to sore. Hope this helps! Good luck.

You could try a enteric coated ASA first to see if that helps, Never give your dog Tylenol or Motrin. Check with your vet if that doesn't help.
