Well now it wouldn't be outside if it were a housecat, would it? No cat can defend itself against everything, especially one that's been socialized and domesticated. People are their worst enemies. There are reports every day of people's outdoor cats being tortured and killed. I'm not sure I understand why you want a cat if all you're going to do is shove it out the door and make it fend for itself. Why would you want your pet to have to defend itself when it could be safe in a loving home? To me, that sounds like a cat that needs to be rescued from a neglectful owner. If you want outdoor cats help smeone with a feral cat colony and leave the housecats in the house.

A lion or tiger might be strong enough to survive on their own outdoors but even they might fall victim to humans, disease, and vehicles. Big question is, why get a cat if you're not going to treat it and love it like a pet and family member? Put a garden gnome in your yard. It'll stand a better chance of survival.
