I would recommend feeding an all natural dry food and maybe once a week feed canned food preferably all natural such as merrick

I used to think that dry was better myself, but I recently sat in a lecture by Dr. Susan Little of the Winn Feline Foundation and it turns out that CANNED is much better. Cats are obligate carnivores and need a diet rich in meat. Dry food needs to have carbohydrates in it to make it into kibble. So, again, check the label and make sure that the food you do buy your cat is meaty.
