One of my dogs likes carrots and green beans but the other (the fat one who needs them) doesn't like people-food. She won't even eat peanut butter! The only thing she does like is sweet potatoes. Happy Hips has a bunch of different treats. One is dried sweet potato sticks with dried chicken wrapped around it. If you read the bag, there is nothing else added so they are very healthy! It also takes a minute or two to chew through the tough chicken so it keeps them occupied for at least a few minutes. They also have banana chips and a few other things your dog might like.

My dogs love frozen stuffed Kongs. I make 14 at once and freeze them for daily feeding. You can put anything you want in them, but I personally have a "recipe" that works for me and my dogs love it. I use a blender and put in a banana and plain yogurt with a bit of water to make it pourable. Then I slice apples. I block the small end of the Kong with peanut butter, stuff the Kong with the apples, and slowl pour the banana drink into it. Top with another piece of apple and seal with more peanut butter. Wrap and freeze in plastic baggie overnight. A day without this Kong is a day without sunshine as far as my dogs are concerned!
The benefit is that it keeps them occupied and satisfied with good snacking.

I use zuke's mini naturals and liver biscotti, low calorie treats that are small. Not sure about how nutritious though, but the traning treats are about the size you should give as a treat.

We buy a bunch of full sized carrots and it takes them longer to eat one and it's almost like getting a bone. Plus it's a lot cheaper than the baby carrots.

We feed our dog frozen green beans and frozen carrots. She seems to like them, and they are low-cal.
