Q: what helps to stop my puppies barking at night ?

September 7, 2008 | By Niblets27 | 3 answers | Expired: 2256 days ago

My 3 yorkies 2- 5 mos. old and a14 mos. old. They sleep with us at night on our bed with the door left a little bit open so they can go out and pee on thier pee pad.but every night while sleeping and quiet.. they seem to hear every little noise and one would start barking jump down the bed and the other 2 will copy and follow. I know they are guarding us specially the male puppie but it is so irritating now and waking all of us. Now my husband starts to get upset and thinking of letting go of the 2 puppies. What shld i do? My daughter loves all of them. I dont really like to buy those stop barking collar coz i heard it hurts the puppies. Pls help me.

My first suggestion would be to eliminate the need for the pee pad so you don't have to keep the door open. This will keep the room quieter and calmer. Feed them at the same time every night, and make sure to take up food and water about 1-2 hours before you go to bed, give the dogs one last trip outside to pee before bed.

*Kick them off your bed and crate train them in thier own crates in your room.
*Make sure they are getting at least 60 min of outside the yard exercise a day. Walk them!
*Obedience train them and be thier leader. IF your dogs have a leader they will calm down.

One of my 3 will wake me if she hears something unfamiliar, I'm glad she does, they probably calm down once they've done their "job" right? If my husband would say he thought he was going to get rid of anything of ours I would explain to him that things were ours not his and if he were to talk about getting rid of a living creature without it being a joint decision the discussion would be over.
