Just wondering, I feed my Blue Heeler Stoney Beneful and I am wondering if it is safe, any dog foods that are really good for your dogs health out there? Is Beneful good for your dog? Hmm...

I read the ingredient label not the advertising on the bag. I stay away from dog food with corn, soy, wheat, or by products listed. I've never been able to find a food without these ingredients at a grocery store. Dogs tend to eat less of the better food that don't have these fillers in them less poop scooping. As a professional Dog groomer I see a big difference in my clients skin and coat when fed the better food.

I worked at pet smart for two years and learned that Authority brand which only petsmart carrys, is more likely to be the best. If the first three ingrediants has anything to do with corn it is not a good diet, because corn is a filler and if it is one of the first three there is more filler than nutrition and protein in the food. Another GREAT option ask your vet what he/she recommends for your breed, weight, age.

I feed my dog and Cats Blue Buffalo. They love it. Now if you decide to change their food, do it slowly. Also they could take a while to get use to it. The holistic foods sometimes can cause upset stomachs at first due to the dogs not being use to such a high quality food. The website everyone else is listing www.dogfoodanalysis.com is a very good food that can explain a lot about the types of dog food. A simple explanation though is no corn, no by products make sure the first ingrededant is meat, meat meals should be either the next one of the third. Good Luck.

Most dogs are allergic to corn and cannot process it. Benefil is like eating Burger King everyday.

Agree with the holistic diets, I am a retailer of natural pet foods and I personally feed a grain free diet to my dogs. Please check out your local independant pet shop or www.dogfoodalylisis.com to help you find the right choice for your dog.

Sorry I have to agree with the masses here, Beneful is NOT a good dog food. I feed Inova to my three dogs they are 3,5 and 8 and all of them do extremely well on this diet. You can't get it at the supermarket or at Pets mart or Petco you will need to find a feed store that deals in holistic foods and it is somewhat costly but well worth it. It's nice you want to find a good food for your friend!
