Do you prefer dogs that don't shed or do you not care?

I've always had dogs and cats that shed, so I can't imagine owning a pet that doesn't shed. I actually enjoy grooming them during heavy shedding seasons. Grooming sessions are a good opportunity for bonding with my pets. And luckily I don't mind vacuuming. Pet hair has become part of our daily lives, and I don't mind it at all.

Doesn't mattter. Even humans shed.So what is a little cat or dog hair? Often times at the shelter long haired cats and dogs don't get adopted as quickly due to people with allergies looking for a short haired pet. Alsowhen allergy suffers surrender animals it's often times long haired animals. Although I can relate unless it's a severe allergy take some allergy medicine or shots. It's not fair to the poor animals that can't help it any more than humans can help having allergies to pets.

Shedding can be a hassle, but I don't really care if my dog sheds. I still love her either way.

I own dogs of both hair types and love them both equally. I am not an allergy sufferer so the hair doesn't bother me.

My first dog was a Maltese mix, her mom lived next door so they have a special place in my heart. When I was married we bought a Sheltie for our daughter and a Cockapoo for the Sheltie ; ) Later we bought another Sheltie for our son then an Aussie /Sheltie mix, loved them all .Then a black short haired dog that I can only describe as a Lab/Doxie mix jumped in my husbands open truck. I wasn't even sure about petting her unfluffy coat at first but of course I eventually did. We had her for 13 yrs. till she passed from lymph node cancer. It never seemed like she shed but of course she did but not even close to her predecessors. We still find fur from the Aussie /Sheltie mix and he passed about 4 yrs ago.
I do not miss all the fur that seemed to catch everywhere only the dogs but should we ever get another dog, it will be of the short hair variety.

I am partial to the poodle and poodle mixes. fortunately they dont shed but do require regular grooming. But since I am a groomer it doesnt matter much. I will probably end up with a short haired dog later down the line but it really doesnt matter either way to me they are all great
