Overall, pet sitters provide pet owners with peace of mind.

Their services can be as minimal as a quick visit to feed or clean up after the animal to dog walking, medicine giving, or playing. You can even request having a light or tv turned on at a certain time to give the impression of you being home {security measure}. Visits can be once a day, twice, or even overnight if need be, though prices change drastically.
Most of all, they give the pet the comfort of not being alone w/o having to leave their home. For instance, if you went on vacation your animal would feel less stressed than being boarded at a kennel. Whenever I pet sit, the animals are very comfortable, happy even. Occasionally they'll be missing their owners, but usually they're fine if they get enough attention throughout the day.
