Just remember the happy memories. If you feel the need to cry, then do. We all grieve differently. Maybe talk about your pet to a friend.

You might also check to see if there are any pet loss support groups in your area.

I am so sorry for your loss. Perhaps a place to start would be to realize that evveyone experiences grief differently and works through it in their own way and time. Are there people you can talk about your friend with and maybe have an observance to honor him? What about contributing to a pet-related cause in his name? Do you have other pets? Concentrating on them can help a lot. Getting another dog is something that only you will know when you are ready for; no one will ever take your friend's place, but they will make their own place. Kris R's previous answer put it very well. I've been through this several times and I can reassure you that the pain will diminish and the good memories will be the ones that stay with you. I wish you the best.

The loss of any animal is something I don't think you "get over" . You just need to replace the sad thoughts with the happy memories of you lost one.

We never forget our pets that we've lost, but learn to love new ones who need us. I hope by now you've gotten another dog that you can play with and enjoy as much as the other dog you had.

We don't replace the ones that have past we just need to give all that love to another very needy soul and hope that is it will help comfort and heal both hearts!

first off I"m very sorry you still feel this way, but like someone said time makes it manageable you will always remember your dog with the fondest of memories and will always hurt but becomes easier with time.

It's never easy to lose anyone that we love, especially a pet that we snuggled with every night at bedtime. We have personally lost 3 pets and it is never an easy thing.

Now, I will say this: If the kitty was sick and it was suffering, then, they're in a better place in heaven and will await your arrival when it's your time to go.

I can tell you that I still cry to this day and one of them has been gone for almost 4 years already. Time heals, time heals, etc. I know this may not be what you want to hear but, it's truly what worked for me...TIME!
