Q: What color will my mares foal be?
My mare is out of a Arabian mother, she was white with flicks of red and her skin was all black. So she was grey with red flea bitten markings.
Her father was a black appaloosa with a blanket that extended down his hocks.
My mare was born black, changed to white. Which means grey but, with pink skin and black freckling, I think she has a grey and an lp gene.
So, she was just bred to a black Frisian and I want to know what will her foals color could be?
I have heard just go to a chart but none of them mention Lp or the appaloosa color.
Can you help?

Does it matter? There are so many horses, mares, and foals being sold to slaughterhouses because people can no longer care for them in this economy. Just last week there was a FB posting selling off something like 500 head of brood mares, foals, and stallions at rock bottom prices . They said if they didn't sell them all off to horse lovers, they would be selling them to the killers in a matter of weeks. Horse rescues, just like all other rescues, are beyond capacity and can't take in anymore. I hope in the future, you consider rescuing rather than breeding.

It won't matter what the foal looks like they are all beautiful I have always wanted horses more a dairy cow than a horse but some animals have really uniqe markings and you will not know what the baby is gonna look like until it is born all that matters is that you love it my step dad has a brother that has horses my favorite one is Toby who is short and stumpy and loves anyone who comes to see him, I geuss I like wild cat too who was wild and rescued they said no one could pet her or get near her even once she was better but she let me come to her just wait and see my cat Teddy had hearts on the bottoms of her back paws also there is a cat at the rescue who has a spot around her neck that looks like a locket it won't matter what the foal looks like it will be beautiful no matter what and all that matters is that you give it all the love in the world.
