Q: What career should i choose??

i just gradutated from high school and decided that i wanted a career with animals. i will have to soon find a college that will fit my career choice. i wanted a career where i can observe animals in their natural habitat and take possibly notes and photos.and i would also would like be able to care/rehabilate animal. what career would fit this and what college degree would i need.

Look for a Wildlife Rehab. center in your area. Also try the zoo near you. They may use volunteers too. Try calling your vet and see if you can observe them for a day or too. Check every option you can. I've done all of these and it can be very rewarding. Good luck.

There are some amazing nature centers all around even in small towns. We often take injured animals there and they even get exotic animals!

wildlife biologist
primatologist
veterinarian that specializes in wild life (and work in a zoo, not exactly what you described, but close)
wild life rehabber (which doesn't really require a college education and is something that people usually do on the side as a project, not an actual job that pays)

In general jobs with animals in the type of setting you describe will require 4 years of basic college plus extra years to earn a DVM (doctor of veterinary medicine), or Phd. You'll need a very strong background in science--biology, anatomy and physiology, chemistry, math. Finding a job will be very competitive.
