Science diet is a very good brand( be sure to buy the puppy brand), and vets all around recomend it. But be sure to talk to your vet too!!!

Make sure the female is receiving all the food she wants. This is an important time for her. Canine gestation is ~63 days.
You can slowly introduce good quality dairy products such as plain yogurt or cottage cheese. They are high in calcium and protein which the pups need. They will also help in milk production. Mix them into her dry food as a treat. Start with small amounts. You can increase the amount as partruition nears.

When the pups arrive, you might find that it works best to feed several small meals throughout the day. Keep giving her the yogurt/cottage cheese while the pups are nursing along with her dry food.. Dont give too much dairy or she will get diarrhea. This will deplete her fluid levels - which means less milk for the pups.

There may also be some 'prenatal' vitamins available for dogs- ask your vet.

Make sure she has a comfortable, quiet place to whelp when the time nears. Set up a baby pool with lots of bedding and a night light. She should have food and water available at all times. Keep the room extra warm as the puppies cannot make their own heat for several weeks. If the pups are in a pile -its too cool in the room. If the pups are sleeping apart from each other, the room is too warm. They should sleep near each other. Mom should be with them full time and only away for potty time untill they are walking.

Good luck

stephanie has great answers. make sure she is getting good quality dog food {4-6 stars} - www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/
you can also add puppy chow to her regular diet b/c it's high protein and has everything puppies need. meat is excellent, chicken, lamb, beef, salmon - absolutely no pork and try to feed tuna only on occasion if you have to.
