Bulldogs have a tendency to produce more gas than some other breeds of dogs, so a lot of that is just genetics. There are some things you can do to help possibly decrease the amount though. Sometimes they tend to ingest too much air when they eat, so you need to slow down her eating. They make bowls that have bumps to prevent them from gobbling their food. You can also put an object in her bowl that she has to eat around...just make sure its too large for her to pick up in her mouth. Raised bowls can also help decrease the amount of air she ingests. You can give her plain yogurt with live active cultures as a treat or a topper to her food. Beano is safe for dogs...its just a digestive enzyme that breaks down food in the intestine. They make better digestive enzymes that you can mix in their food. Digestive enzymes & probiotics can help a lot. There are some brands out there that combine the two into one supplement. Check the food labels too. Oftentimes soy & grains are the culprits to excessive gas. Try switching him over to a high quality grain-free food.
