at this time of year there isn't much you can do but what you are doing. at this time of year they will be dheading their coat and putting on a winer coat. they will do the same thing in the spring. but if it goes one too long and gets bald spots please make a call or a trip to the vet

I feel your pain! My dog Gunther sheds so much you'd think he'd be bald by now. There's no way to completely prevent shedding (besides shaving!), but you can take a few steps to keep it under control.

Brush daily - several times a day! And do it outside! If you haven't purchased one already, I really recommend investing in a Furminator. It's a great tool to thin out the underlayer of the coat.
Vacuum and sweep often. I know, it's a pain, but it's the only way to get rid of all that extra hair floating around the house. I have to vacuum daily during the winter and spring.

If you find some other method that works better, please let me know!

It's that time of year again. I have found that when they start shedding their old coat, I take them to the groomer & the shedding is barely noticable afterwards.
