there's a lot of breeds who shed less, but there are too many other variables to consider. when you only look for one quality, you can easily end up w/a dog who doesn't fit your lifestyle {and that can be really tough}. check out this little quiz to find out which breeds are best for you: www1.dogbreedinfo.com/search.htm

Well a small dog that doesn't shed and is very dear to my heart is the maltese. My maltese is definitely a mommy's girl though and this is very tyical for the breed. Malteses usually pick favorites. :) Another dog breed that I would suggest is a poodle. Everyone always thinks they are the "old people dog" but they're actually energetic fun dogs that make great companions. Good luck on whatever dog breed you choose!

I would just do a ton of research. My husband and i decided to get a new puppy and he told me it was my decision on what i wanted. We currently have a dog who is he left leg so he wanted the next one to be my choice. The one thing i wanted was a low energy lap dog. It took me 3 months of research to finally settle one one. Im going to get a cockapoo. There are many hypo allergenic dogs, you should do a search that way. Some examples are Shih Tzus, Poodles, mostly any poodle mix (cockapoo, godendoodle).

I would do a main google search for hypo allergenic dog breeds. then id look at each breed individually and see which one fits your lifestyle the most.

Well, there are many dogs that don't shed. First of all is the poodle. They come in three sizes, standard, miniature, and toy. The standard poodle is a large dog, lab sized. The miniature is a medium size, like a Schnauzer, and the toy is a small dog about 15 lbs maybe.

There is a hairless dog - the Chinese Crested. They come in a 'powder puff' version as well. They are the size of a toy dog, but do not have a typical toy dog personality.

Jack Russels are popular small dogs - but beware of terriers. They have high energy levels and can be a challenge to control and train.

There are many other small breeds, however, 'small' can be a matter of opinion. Do some research on AKC.org and find out what personality and activity level will match your lifestyle and household.

Dont forget to do a search on Petfinder.com. There are many good mixed breed dogs in shelters waiting for a home. Many of them are evaluated by experienced people and can tell all about their personality.

Good luck!
