All I would say is if you have a male cat, make sure you check for Ash content. Male cats are prone to urinary tract infections whcih can make it so they cannot urinate and eventually the can die from it. The more Ash in the cat food, the worse it is for the male cats. I have 3 male cats and 1 female so I buy the best. But if you cant afford the best I would say to stay away from the cheapest stuff like meow mix. I would go with Friskies for it is actually a purena brand. Thats what I used to feed my cats but one of my cats started getting too big so I switched to Purena one. But Purena is the only brand i will feed my cat.

Glad to be here. I feed my kitty NutriPet by Quixtar. The sardines, shrimp & crab dinner has vit. E, A, D3, B12 and the duck & oatmeal dinner has eggs, peas, carrots, potatoe, Brewser's Yeast, flaxseed, dried kelp, yucca extract and cranberry powder as well as the vit. listed above. He loves both and dry food...well, I'm a full time student who is not working so funds are a bit tight right now. So I've gotten him natural mix for indoor cats which he loves, too. When I had more funds I was able to get cases of the afore mentioned wet food.

Like graykittie said, no food with by products is good. Or corn meal. They are just fillers and will not keep your cat full. Natural pet foods, such as Solid Gold, use low allergen products. This promotes total health, will boost the immune system, and protect against diseases. This is a paragraph from the Solid Gold website.

"We never use chemical preservatives such as BHA, BHT and Ethoxyquin, which may be related to some diseases in pets. We never use wheat, corn, or soy, which are often genetically modified and common allergens for dogs, causing them to have uncomfortable skin disorders, chew incessantly at their feet, or suffer from chronic problems such as ear infections. We never add animal or poultry fat to our products, as these are saturated fats that may contribute to heart disease and certain types of cancer."

If you absolutely can't afford this cat food, which isn't that expensive, stick to the one that you decide on, but overall, a natural pet food is much better for your animal.

Pay attention to the ingredients. Any brand that has ___ by-product as the first ingredient is bad. I'm buy the new Paul Newman organic dry cat food. Its all natural. My cat is pooping so much less and is less smelly, too.

To be honest... anything you get at walmart isn't good at all. If those are your absolute only options, just go with whatever your cat likes the best and stick with it. DO NOT just buy whatever is on sale because you can cause a lot of GI upset in your kitties. Choose a brand that fits your budget and that your cat seems to like the best and stick with it.

My kitty is 13 yrs old and eats Atta Cat daily. If I can afford it, she will get canned food (not often tho LOL).

My cat LOVES Whiska's Purrfectly Fish. Its like kitty crack to her. And, it looks like sashimi to me. I would eat it myself. Cats are obligate carnivores, so a diet that is meaty is best. Always check the ingredients to make sure meat is the first ingredient and also check with your vet for their recommendations.
