What are some other ways of praise that can be used to train a dog??

Ok so I's trying to train Annie( my 8 month old Toy Fox Terrier)and the thing is she is way way picky with her treats and even then most times she still don't want them. She takes pretty well with verbal praise but I wanted to do something a little more than that. Anyone with any ideas please help me

Well, when a lot of my friends were trying to train their dogs, they used a combination of treats, verbal praise, and especially just lots of petting and rubbing their bellies. But i also had this one friend whose dog was obsessed with carrots. It was human food, but it was healthy for the dog. See if you can find anything your dog likes that is also good for it that will work.

If he likes play, you can release him with a word like OK after each behavior and toss or tug with the toy.

Try lots of different treats. As suggested, most dogs like carrots. Several companies make sweet potato treats, our dogs love apples or even small pieces of bread. Sure is healthier than a milk bone! Praise her when she takes the treat so that she associates the action with the treat and praise. Then do it again and again. Don't go overboard and get her excited, just say "good girl".
