What are good dog names for a Boy dog?

My parents and I just adopted a new puppy from a rescue organization. He comes home this saturday! We cant decide on a name we all like. Right now we are thinking about Yoshi Kona. (middle name being Kona) Yoshi was my Uncles hawaiian name who passed away this past summer, and Kona is a hawaiian name that we just liked..it means wind i believe.

However we're not sure if we are really satisfied with that name. Does anyone have any ideas? My mom wants something kind of different...but not too...weird....lol. can anyone help?

I loved your answer Cooper! I would just add that remember you will be outside calling this dog's name - something you want to think about when you choose a name.

Studies have shown that good dog names have two sy1lables, and usually the names is best if it sounds good when the first syllable can be said in a higher tone than the second. Names longer than two syllables are just extra fluff as the dog responds best to the first two. On the musical scale ... call the dog's name as the notes "mi - do"

Yoshi sounds wonderful and if it is a special name, it will mean a lot! Besides, anything you start calling your puppy will soon be HIS name and it becomes second nature to call them that! It only takes a few days or maybe a week for it to feel just like he was always named that and to feel really at home with whatever you name him. YOu can always change it and he won't mind, but just pick something that is special to you! Have fun with it and enjoy your puppy! Keep all your wiring and plugs etc. away from puppies - oh my they can chew threw them in a second and hurt themselves and ruin your stuff! My camera cord, my vacuum cord..you name it and it was chewed and ruined! Goodluck and have fun!

I'd wait until you get the puppy home and get to know it's personality. I bet the name will come to you and it will be just perfect.
