Q: We travel in the summer...what kind of pet would your recommend?
Basically10 months we are in one home and two months in another. The second requires a long plane ride and we end up in another country. the kids want another dog. so far i have vetoed it.

It would depend on what country you are going to. Some have quarantine laws that make it almost impossible to bring a pet there short term. If that is NOT the case and you can bring your pet freely, I'd say a small dog. Just choose an airline that allows pets in the cabin and choose a dog small enough to fit into a carrier that will fit under the seat in front of you. You'd have to have a health certificazte, but as long as vaccines are kept UTD thats no big deal either.

Traveling with dogs is possible but some dogs are easier to travel with than others. A small calm dog would be a great fit for sure. As Sandy mentioned, getting a carrier and seeing who fits and it mellow enough if a great idea.

If you get another dog, get one that is really laid back and just goes with the punches. You need a dog that won't mind being in a small crate for a long period. I can't say there's a breed perfect for this but I do suggest going to a shelter (or petfinder) and asking about dogs that would be great with traveling. My dog loves to travel but it's always by car.
