We are considering adopting a Newfoundland puppy. Does anyone know if this particular breed slobbers

Want to know as much beforehand. I read somewhere, that they are messy when drinking, which is ok. My concern is if they droll a lot. thanks for your help......

Most any dog with large dewlaps can drool. Newfies are one of them. You'll notice at shows they sometimes have a bib on so the drool doesn't get on their nice clean coat. BUT they are so worth it. Awesome dogs and they love to swim. Also they do need a lot of grooming especially if they swim. You could get them clipped down some. Brushing a dog is a great bonding experience.Go for it!Just keep a slobber rag handy.

I don't have a newfoundland but my best friend does. The dog does drool but it's not excessive. She is a very sweet dog but can be very hard headed.

I used to live with a friend who has one and he is first of all the biggest baby I've ever seen. Secondly, yes he did drool. It wasn't like it was constantly hanging out of his mouth, but he did do it quite frequently.
