Q: Unusual Cat names

November 19, 2008 | By Lena W. | 32 answers | Expired: 1961 days ago

Anyone else crazy enough to give their cat an unusual name? My kitty is named Freak (aka the Freakazoid) and it fits him.

I have a cat named Santa Claus Annie who was named by my daughter who was 3 at the time. I tried to convince her that it was an odd name but she was in love with the name...so we let her win. We also have a cat named Steven P. Kitty. I just figured he needed a more "formal" sounding name.

We had a calico kitty and we named her monkey. She would climb and do crazy things like a monkey.

My friend's cat is named Veda...after the movie My Girl. Unfortunately, I was pretty tame when it came to naming my cats, but Pearl's nickname is Crazy Poo.

I named my cat Tibult. When I introduce him, everyone thinks I say "Tibbles." And most people have no clue where the name Tibult came from (Tibult Capulet from Romeo and Juliet).

My cat and his brother are cute little orange cats. When they first arrived at the door at work I knew exactly what to name them. My cat is Chopper and his brother we called OC. I thought it was cute. I have also known people that have named their cats after car parts. Camshaft, axle and Holly for Holly carburetors. lol

I work at a shelter and we name all the animals so after awhile you have to get pretty creative with it. We have had two brothers, one was named Dill and the other was Pickle. We had a Him and a Her. I went to the grocery store one day and came out with 3 pages worth of names. We had a Buttersworth, Jemima, Pancake, and Waffle. (I really wanted pancakes for breakfast that morning. :-) We have named them after everything from Grease characters (cats were Pink Ladies and dogs were T-Birds) to food to drinks to clothing item. We have found that you can get names from just about anywhere.

We had a cat named Squirt because we had to squirt her with a water gun all the time to get her off the table. And another named Saint because when he was born he'd put his two paws together like he was praying.

My dad likes to go on vacation to Las Vegas so several years ago when he got a cat, he named him "Vegas".

We have sister cats, Mary and Jane. We are not into "extra-curriculars" but some old lady named them, probably thinking of the shoes. After adopting, we tried to think of new names but by the time we decided they had just started to look their names; if you know what I mean. Now people think it's funny that our pets have people names. It only seems fitting to us.
