What are the usual personality of tuxedo cats, if there is a characteristic personality? Mine is a male and very laid back and tolerant, also sensitive and sweet.

Since "tuxedo" isn't a breed its hard to say what an individual's personality will be. As with most cats, personality is going to be based part on nature & part on nurture. Genes will play a role, but since a tuxedo cat isn't a purebred cat you can't say definitively from that standpoint. The other factor is how they're raised...how much they're handled, amount & kind of attention, etc. Most tuxedos, like most cats, will be friendly & affectionate if raised to be so & treated in the right manner.

As with all animals I think its hard to describe a personality for any type of animal. My tuxedo came to me as a foster kitten, 3wks old. I raised her just like all my fosters. The first time I knew something wasn't right was when she was recovering from spay sx, she was like a crazy beast. As she got older, her aggression grew until one day she went after my daughter. I am a vet asst, and have owned many cats, but this one wasn't right. I had her put down for the safety of our other pets and family. I have a hard time saying anything concrete about personalitites and breeds/types. A good cat is a good cat!!!

My first childhood cat, Boots was a Tuxedo, intelligent, loving, let me dress her up in doll clothes, put her in a doll cradle and waited for more. She was pals with my dog and slept under the covers at my feet. Another Tux cat, Amelia, was very simlar. I've had tabbies, black and Siamese. I've heard many cat owners say how smart and loving their tux cats are. Because my last 2 cats were black (Lucy) & (Mia) I'd like to get something different and with every Tuxedo cat I see on zootoo, I know that's what I really want.
