do you mean a herniated (intervertebral) disk?
The intervertebral disk allows movement of the spine and is like a spinal shock absorber. There is two main types of management - conservative (pain meds, resting) for mild cases and surgical for moderate to severe cases. Prognosis would depend on the severity of the herniation and the clinical signs the animal is showing. If you are talking about something else, please clarify and I can try to help.
