Q: the stranger places you've found pet toys

as my personal situation deals specifically with cats, this question is primarily aimed at folks with cats, though dog owners may also have some insight.

for Christmas i bought our cats some oversize furry mice. these things were *big*, and part of why i liked them was that i figured they'd be too big to get stuck in a lot of the places where smaller cat toys tend to hide.

but now, less than 2 months later, i can't find *any* of them! i've checked "the usual suspects"...underneath furniture and large appliances. they're not on top of the pantry where they like to hang out. i've checked behind several pieces of furniture that it would be impossible for them to get stuck underneath. they've got to be *somewhere*!!!

where are some of the stranger, more surprising places you've found pet toys?

Where have I NOT found toys? When Noel is finished playing, she puts her's in the water bowl. She also sometimes puts them in my bed, under the covers, after she's put them in the water bowl! I've found them in the pillowcases, under furniture & appliances, under the sofa cushions, in shoes, in the sink & tub, in any available box that happens to be around, & shoved under closet doors. That's just the places I can remember off hand!

It depends on the cat. I have one cat who always takes things and puts them in their food bowl (my husband and i think hes hoping one of our other cats eats it and chokes on it, hes kind of evil). They really like to push them under our computer stands and behind the tv stands. Pretty much anywhere that once they get it their, they cant get it back out. The new one is that they cram them under doors and we will find them when we open up closets. And if you have dogs, ive found plenty in our dogs mouth as well.

No strange toy hiding places here. They usually just drag a toy into a room where I am or have been recently and leave it on the floor. I do have a golf ball that Peak likes to bat and carry around that has been lost, so it could be in a strange place for all I know. The whole house has been cleaned and furniture moved since it has been gone. Haven't found it yet in over a year. Maybe it dropped down the basement stairs into "no pet's land".

I can't leave you without some strange though. Some rodent must have gotten inside. I was dusting my computer speakers and something had stuffed the darned vent hole in the front of the woofer with dog food pellets. I am surprised the speakers didn't sound weird. There was about a cup full of stash in there. That's kind of a strange place to leave something. Although I haven't seen any rodents indoors since Peak arrived I guess I could claim it as a pet leaving its toys in a strange place.

Sometimes they are inside shoes! Other times, they simply cannot be found! Maybe cats put them in the toilet and flush them away??

When I used to leave for work I would throw all the kitty toys out into the living room. My siamese cat, Sweetpea, would have them all neatly piled up in front of the fireplace when I would return. She passed away at 15 a few years ago, but I always like to tell that story.

i'm still wondering where they're all going to. we have an abundance of small cat toys and it can be a daily search and rescue mission. the largest hoards i find are beneath the stove and love seat {maybe those are just the easiest places to check}, but there's still several unaccounted for. i got them a wholesale box of 60 toy mice for christmas and i can only find up to five at a time. most of the mice are still in the box, but we've thrown at least a dozen out so far. where ARE they all going to?
