our puppy wants to play with the cat but she is too hyper for the cat. The cat will tolerate the puppy untill she starts trying to play rough with him. Then the puppy starts barking at him & ends up with the cat swipping at her. The puppy will yelp & the cat will try to go where the puppy cant get to. I just dont know how to get them to get along. I need help.

Be patient, and the cat will take care of everything! Puppies and kittens learn from cats and dogs what is acceptable behaviour and what is off limits. When the cat makes a noise, the puppy will eventually learn that she means "leave me alone now", or that she is encouraging more play. When dogs have puppies, the puppies learn from their siblings as well as their mother that, for instance, squeals mean "ouch, you hurt me". Growls mean "stop that". Cats and dogs are not as different as many people think, they can get along well. Just let the older animal set the rules.

Just let them be they will learn to like one another. My puppy did the same thing I started off yelling at him becuase he kept chasing her but then they've learn to get along. Now they can lay right beside each other.

I recommend you give it time. They'll learn to read each other VERY quickly and your pup will soon learn what is right or wrong to do to your cat! Sometimes a good little swipe from your cat will teach him to calm down a little bit.

Make sure to have both your pets spayed/neutered! It will absolutely help with future possible aggression issues and will allow them to live longer, healthier lives! : )
