Q: Teething kittens
October 8, 2008 | By Rachel G. | 5 answers | Expired: 1671 days ago
I'm thinking this is a teething issue. My kitten chews on everything, books, anything in your hand, the flap on the couch and even the dogs tug rope. This is just teething right? Or do I need to get my cat a chewy toy?

as stated it isn't a bad idea to have the clearance of the vet on issues of concern..
my one siamese was teething.. I bought him one of those little rawhide chews for small dogs. they were really thin and about three inches in length. I let him chew on them.. he really couldn't do damage to it and it helped him through his teething. just wouldn't give them to a dog I don't really think they are safe to eat.

Also, and I am by no means a cat authority, but I wonder if like other baby animals and humans, your kitten is just exploring and investigating her world?

All I know is that my kittens have bitten through two rubber nipples! So, I decided they could handle kibble!

How small are they? I haven't heard of teething kittens - but it makes sense. Ask a vet.

you should probably take your kitten to the vet just to make sure that there is not teeth that are bad. Yes kittens can chew. However, it is not a common thing for them to chew on things such as you listed. It could be possible that there is a problem that she is having with her teeth. Not a big worry but I would have it looked at just to be safe!
