Nevada just passed a law that people can't keep dogs chained in their yards for days at a time. Are other states doing this also?

Texas is trying to get a tougher law passed but it has a lot of opposition from breeders & hunters. Many cities are passint their own laws while waiting to get a state law in place. You can probably get up to the minute info on where states stand on their anti-chaining legislation by going out to one of the following sites:

i live in the md/dc/va area && to answer your question yes there is a law stating that you can not live your animal chainned outside. In order to have a registered animal like a dog, you must have a proper fenced in yard. The Animal Shelters come out and inspect your yard before the adoption process. I think it is horrible to chain your dog outside. All states should have a law saying that people cant chain their dogs outside.

I don't know if other states are doing it or not, but I think it is a wonderful idea. I hate to see a dog at the end of a chain. How would you like to spend your life like that? I know that North Carolina allows people to chain their dogs, and I hate it. I would never chain one of mine.
