I find the word 'cute' odd in pet wars, but what do you look for in the pet to say that it's cute?

I find personality to be cute, that's why on pet wars, I actualy vote for the uglier animal because I feel sorry for it, plus, it might have a better personality!!

Cuteness is shown in their expressions. Of course, baby any things are always cute. It's really a matter of personal taste. What one person thinks is cute may not be so cute to someone else.

How does the expression strike me is my main requirement. Or, if a cat, does it resemble one of mine. Negative points if the animal is dressed in clothes

There was a program on TV that was about "cuteness". The simple explanation was that we are hard wired to view anything with baby characteristics as being cute. That's what compels us to care for and nurture babies. This is why people love puppies and any animal with a baby-like face.

It may be the breed or the color. Just like everyone has different ideas of which humans are cute, I think it's the same for animals.
