Q: Skijoring?

November 26, 2011 | By Dogz37 | 2 answers | Expired: 1015 days ago

So we have an old dog, she loves to run, but she also loves to pull. So I was thinking that I should try skiijoring. (Unfortunatly the dog is blind, deaf, can't smell, and her joints are starting to weaken, this is why I'm not sure if this is a good idea).

This is not a good activity for an old, blind, deaf dog with probably arthritis and no way to even catch a scent to determine where she is or what's ahead of her!! If she wants to run, let her do it on her own terms, in her own territory where she feel comfortable and knows the terrain. Don't force her into something scary and potentially dangerous just because you want to do it.

Don't try this with an older dog she may love to run but you can always let her loose in a fenced yard and let her run I knew some one who was in worse shape than this she had a male great dane named Gorge and since he was born he was blind and deaf the breeder was gonna have him put down but she talked him into letting her take him home. She was never able to really train him but she said that he was the greatest dog ever!
