Q: Should I call the vet?

February 17, 2010 | By Loreen . | 5 answers | Expired: 1603 days ago

Yesterday morning my maltipoo,Lacey, got spayed yesterday. The vet told me that she did not vomit when they induced her with anesthesia. In the afternoon she came home and had nothing to eat.She took her first laps of water around 630pm.Since about 7pm she's been vomiting more than 5 times in 3 hours.I have her after care paperwork & am following everything it says.Should I call the vet or hold off another day?As for food, the paper says to give her the regular diet she's been on(Halo's Spot's Stew)
Lacey's doing better. Her last vomit was about 7 hours ago. She's lapped up some water less than 30 minutes ago. Also eating.I'm watching to see if she can hold it down & will call the vet if she vomits again.Thank you everyone for your help.

I would call the vet if the vomiting has not stopped yet. Also, I would not put down food for her until I spoke to the vet if she is not keeping down water. I hope she is feeling better soon.

I would call the vet for your own well being and just to be certain.. all take to the surgery differently.. Wish you both the best

Make sure that her water bowl isnt full all the time. When we got our dog spayed the vet explained that they think that their more thirsty than they are and you dont want them drinking a ton of water and to limit it. So i would give her a little bit of water every couple hours and if she keeps that down then let her have food. The day we brought our dog home (the day of her surgery) she kept vomiting as well. But the second day she was much better. You could call the vet to see what they think but i dont think its anything to worry about unless it doesnt stop.
