Q: Shelter for Exotic Animals

Is it a law in PA that all animals, exotic, farm, etc. have shelter? If so, is it required that the animals can walk to the shelter freely, without any obstruction?

The only laws currently in PA regarding shelter are for dogs only!It states that dogs left outside are to have "suitable" shelter and that is up to interpretation. There is a law about to be passed saying that dogs are not allowed to be left chained outside anymore. But as far as that horse or cow you may see-nothing,they are considered livestock and are not required to have shelter.I personally do provide at least a 3 sided lean-to at a minimum and some states also have this requirement, but not PA.Not yet anyway;contact your local representative to address this issue!Squeaky wheel gets the oil!Good luck too.Took years just to get an Equine Liability Act!
