We have small dogs. Two terriers, one that is 10 pounds and the other is 16 pounds. We just got a new car and want to make sure the dogs are in the safest place they can be in. IN the old car, we just let them sit in the back seat or on our laps, but we are nervous in the new car for our safety and theres. We just bought a VW Tiguan. We have a hatch back trunk.

We tried to put the dogs in the back, but they learned to jump over, and they did not like it because they could not see outside!!!

any suggestions!

The best place would be in the back seat with the car seat harnesses.

I have a Rat Terrier who will roam the car if not in her crate. Thats where she is when I travel for an extended time. For short trips I seat belt her in the back seat with a doggie seat belt. A few years ago a lady traveling on a bridge lost controll of her car & ended up drowning in water with her several dogs roaming loose in the car. The dogs being free to roam the car was more & likley the cause of the accident. I learned from that how unsafe it was to have my dog loose. Your dogs are happy just to be with you please keep them contained for safty reasons and you can then enjoy your travels.

Since they are small,I would get car seats, harnesses and seat belts. You can get those in any pet store.
