Q: Rosoce has chin acne
Rosoce has chin acne
My little Roscoe has some chin acne. I had brought it up to the vet at his last appt. and she had advised I keep his bowls (he has stainless bowls) clean. I have been washing them twice a day and he still has acne on his chin. I have also been cleaning his chin once a week with a mild soap and combing out the dirt with a flea comb. Does anyone have any ideas on how to treat this at home? I'm going to wait another week and then he will be taking another trip to the vet. Thanks for you help.

according to a vet dermatologist I just checked with... the most important thing is to CLEAN food and water bowls daily. Of course, keeping the chin dry is important too. However, id does sound like your cat is having a heck of a time with this problem, so you may ask your vet to a bacterial and a fungal (yeast) culture to find out exactly what you are battling.

Hi! Try using Oxyfresh Pet Oral Hygiene solution, it's in a bottle and normally you can find it in most pet stores for about 10 dollars, just a few teaspoons into fresh water twice daily. Helps with bad breath too but I think the acne is from the water sitting on his chin after drinking. This may help.

I certainly agree about getting a culture. I would recommend changing the bowls daily and running them through your dishwasher so they will get hot enough to kill anything lingering on them.
