Q: Rhodesian Ridgeback

Ridgebacks were originally bred in South Africa to hunt lions so they have great coursing ability & endurance. They can be fast & energetic & make great running partners, but as they mature they become more laidback. One ridgeback expert calls them "the kings of dozing". They do need daily exercise & seem to happiest either running or sleeping. lol Having originated in S. Africa, they can tolerate very hot weather, but they are extremely hearty dogs & can also tolerate cold weather very well. This breed is like a catahoula & others that need a strong, confident owner who can always maintain the alpha or pack leader role. Training is a must. They also have to get plenty of physical & mental stimulation or they become destructive.

i have always found this to be true. as far as cold weather they have short hair so i don't really know
