We have a pit bull for a year (she's 1yr. & 8 months old now) she was rescued from a fighting home of pits.
She is afraid of water.
We have tried the tub, warm water being poured on her, a hose, and now even a pool in the back yard.
When you go near her she runs and if you try to hold her she bites-even with the dog towellettes or a towel. She weighs about 125lbs. and is strong!
She really needs a good bath as she is in the house and on the furniture.
I was going to take her to a groomer but I was told I would be liable if she bites them, and I know she will.
It takes 5 people in the vets office to hold her with medication and a muzzle to get her shots and her nails cut.
---------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you All,
That is exactly what we have been doing, I will get in the tub or pool (Baby pool) and throw toys in she will put her paws in but when you try to put any water/towel/wipe near her she starts growling (and I know she will bite as she grabbed me when I was trying to put sun lotion on her) You can pet her but cannot have anything in your hand- when we do the frontline someone else has to play with her and I squeeze and run. She is so paranoid of water she wouldn't get out of the truck to come in the house for 15 minutes and just kept barking at the rain. The vet gave us medication to give her before she goes there and it makes her drowsy but she is more assertive on that medication.
I know she was very abused, but she has come so far in the year we had her, she is our giant hugging bear.
Thank you again and we will keep trying!

Maybe you should introduce her to water little by little. Start of with it in a cup, let him see it as something that isnt harmful, then rub it on her with a finger, then slowly move up that way.
