Q: Real Christmas Trees and cockatiels?

We had an artificial tree for many years because of our cockatiels. The first two we had flew free and we didn't want them accessing a live tree. The tiel we have now stays happily in his cage with an occasional lift outside his door but does not fly. Our new kittens tried to eat our artificial tree, I think in part because it smelled like the forbidden basment. We think they would be okay with a live tree perhaps but I think I've read before that bringing a live tree inside can also bring unwanted/unwelcome little hijackers who could cause a problem for the tiel. I am looking for advice from bird owners to see what to do. Thank you!

oh boy that is a problem. i don't know if christmas trees are poison to tiels maybe not since birds do live in evergreens. i would look it up in the computer or call the vet. as far as bringing in critters i would wait for a good freeze to hopefully kill them off. but maybe they will hibernate. but the birds might enjoy a bit of fresh protine. but i still say look it up. hi z and t
