Both Jhet and pyper , my lab mixes, love to chew on rawhide bones and I have heard both negative and positive on this; what do some you think? Do you give your dogs rawhides or not? My labs, especially Pyper, the 11 month old needs something to chew on but are rawhide bones the best?

Rawhide gets gummy and gooey. Bailey can do one in pretty quick and then throws up. We get Choo Hooves. They are tough and last a very long time. A little cheese or peanut butter in the tip and tey are like new. We did not like the smoked ones because they turned her muzzle and paws orange, and they seemed to upset her stomach.

Our two German Shorthair dogs love rawhide chew sticks. We gave rawhide chew sticks to them when they were puppies and never had any problems with them chewing on anything in the house other than their toys. Today at 9 years old they look forward to these treats every night.

I have stopped giving my two dogs (1 yr old lab and 5 yr old rotti) raw hides. They really love them, but a couple hours after they vomit it all back up. We now give them shank bones we get from the butcher. We boil them up and freeze them. They absolutely love it and the marrow is great for their coats, plus they last a few weeks.
