I have heard that the important factor is giving your dog the correct size related to its weight.

Greenies I believe has improved its formula.

I have never fed greenies to my dog, but have to my cats, didn't seem to affect them.
However my co-worker said that one of cats had some blood in their feces so she stopped immediatley and she said she didn't see anymore problems

I agree with Tanya H. My dog loves Greenies and can digest them, but my friend's dog can't eat them. It all depends on your dog's digestive system.

I think all of that stuff depends on your dog's digestive system. Just like rawhides, some dogs cant tolerate them while others can. If your dogs are okay with them, then it should be fine.

Greenies have changed their formula and now say they are easier to chew and digest. I think with anything we give our dogs we should be there to check on them.

I do not give them. They are not fully digestible and I have had some client's dogs require surgery to remove pieces from the intestines.

as a puppy raiser for NEADS (www.neads.org) i was instructed to never give a greenie to the pups...
one of our raisers was in church with her assigned pup and gave her a greenie to keep her busy during the service...after a few minutes there was this horrible wretching sound and the pup had the whole greenie lodged in it's throuat, it was quick thinking that they performed a puppy hymlick (sp) on her and got the greenie out...
i would supervise the pup carefully, often they chew it up and they end up with a big piece that they swallow, this sits in the stomach and will cause further problems as it does not digest quickly and can cause blockage of the colon...please supervise pups and dogs well when they have any sort of treats like these...best wishes

Our local SPCA no longer gives Greenies as a treat. Have you tried Halo's freeze-dried beef or chicken? Both are holistic/all natural. No additives or preservatives. Great products and yummy.

I've never had a problem nor have I heard any of my friends having problems with them.

My dog loves them and I don't know of any of my friends' dogs or cats that have had any bad experiences with them. Just don't give a big dog a small greenie; you don't want them trying to gulp the things down and get stuck in their throat.
