My chihuahua went into heat about 2 weeks ago and I have been keeping a very close eye on her but I think she might be pregnant. Her nipples are out more but is this due to her being in heat?I am taking her to vet but I would like to know the symptoms of a pregnant chi.She was bleeding for a few days when she started on her heat and now her belly is a little hard. Thanks in advance.

though it's been a long time since i've had a dog who wasn't spayed, but i don't recall any nipple swelling when she was in heat. many times the swelling of the nipples is the first sign you'll see in pregnant females. i would say it's time for you to schedule the appointment to have your dog fixed and have her babies aborted. there are way too many unwanted dogs already in this world to be adding to that amount. if you disagree w/abortions, please have all her puppies fixed before adopting them out. people may say they'll have them fixed, but it's very easy to put it off. check your area for a local low-cost spay/neuter clinic.

If you've been "watching" her & she's kept on a leash or in her fenced back yard like she should be then she's not pregnant, right?? so you can now have her spayed !!!

The only dog I've ever had in heat was one I was tryng to rescue off the street. Her nipples did swell & get quite large while she was in heat. She did actually appear pregnant. Luckily she wasn't & as soon as we were able to capture her, we had her spayed. The only way to know for sure is to take her to the vet. Hopefully you schedule a spay surgery while you're there.
