Possums stay in an area because they have a food source. Remove the food source and they'll move on. Until they move on, you'll need to keep Abby on a leash and maintain control over her to avoid confrontation with the possum. If you have an outdoor pen that Abby can't jump or escape from, you could also put her in there while she's outside. The possum is not going to instigate an attack. They are very shy animals and only attack as a last resort when they feel threatened.
