Harley's been home for a few days, and we have him in a crate (which is fairly large for his size (1lb) but because he's a toy breed the breeder told us to give him access to food, and of course water 24 hours a day. So I have his food and water and his bed in his crate, and then during the day time we push the crate into our hallway, (the crate acts as a baby-gate, and then we let him free in the hallway. Anyway, it doesn't matter what time of day, whenever I fill his water he finds joy in plunging himself, especially his feet into the water dish, and also makes an effort to bring his stuffed toys especially the fuzzy bunny he sleeps with into the water... he did this so much that the first night we thought he made a mistake in the crate. further inspection proved he just made a huge mess in his water.

Is this just a silly puppy thing that he'll grow out of, or is there something I'm missing. Or maybe he just likes to have moist wet paws?

this could be a silly puppy thing that he'll outgrow. many dogs enjoy playing in water so once he's older and it's warmer, you may want to let him play in a pool.
