Pig ears

My little Rat Terrier likes Pig Ears. My Eski don't care for then now. The Eski is 2 years older. I very seldom get the Pig Ears because I am not sure if they are good for my girl? Will you please fill me in on the pros & cons of Pig Ears? T.Y.

My dog used to love the pigs ears, but if she ate them too often, she would get bound up. Now that she is much older, she has other health issues and we no longer give them to her.

You definitely need to watch them with Pig Ears. My dogs used to eat them all the time but I think they got tired of them. Our vet has never told us not to give them to our dogs so we did until they weren't eating them anymore. But they never had any problems as far as digestion or anything like that.

I am not a fan of pig ears at all. I would reccomend Bull Sticks instead.

My husband and I used to buy pig ears for our beagles until our vet told us they were bad for dogs. The actually shred and can get caught in their throats. We now use rawhide and they love them

My dog loves pigs ears but actually gets a little aggressive with them because he loves them so much, especially if there is another dog around so that's something you may want to think about. I've stopped giving him all that stuff though - rawhides, etc. They upset his stomach too much and my vet told me that sometimes those treats are treated with chemicals so I avoid them all now.

honestly it depends on the dog. Some dogs just can't handle it while others can. Its a chance you either want to take or not. There are alot of great other chews that are much better for your dog. i like Nylabones, deer antlers, rawhide replacement bones (purina makes them I think they are called busy bones. So i would look into these different chews and find one that your dogs like. Just a reminder about the huge bones with meat on them sold at different stores are very dangerous for dogs!

I don't give my dogs anything that is rawhide or the like. It doesn't digest and can cause blockages. My dogs are heavy chewers and tend to swallow larger chunks than some dogs would and that's the main reason I won't give them rawhide or pig ears. I've also read that some of the prep for rawhide can involve chemicls that may be harmful. I know many people who give these kinds of treats with no ill effects, it's just my personal choice NOT to give them.

No problems yet with pig ears. Moderation is key when discussing things like rawhides and pig ears.

All my dogs always loved pig ears, but I stopped feeding them when I was told they were not good because of the little pieces that can get stuck in their throat. Same with the rawhide, I switched to compressed bones and my dogs like them too.

When I adopted my 1st greyhound I was told they were a big NO, so I don't give them to my dogs, I have friends that give them and their dogs seem fine, but the ears are so greasy I don't know how they can be good for them, I was also told they are not good by my Vet, and I really trust, also if you read a bag of the it says to wash your hand after touching them, so I figure if I'm supposed to be worried when I touch them I better not give them to my girls.
