Petey From little Rascals

What was the breed of Petey from the little rascals.... The original and the second make of the movie? I thought he was an American bulldog, but someone believes he was a pit bull terrier. Please advise!!!!

American Pit Bull Terrier. I think this is PROOF that this breed can be INCREDIBLE with kids.

There were a couple of dogs that played Petey in the original series. Pal was the first. He also played Tige in the Buster Brown series. His offspring, Lucenay's Peter, was the most famous of the dogs who had the role. They were American Pitbull terriers & were dual registered as both AKC American Staffordshire Terriers and as UKC American Pit Bull Terriers. In the remake, Petey was played by an American Bulldog.

FYI, many years ago, the term "nanny dog" was given to pit bull/staffie terriers because they were loyal, caring companions for children.
