Hello everybody!
WE are thinking about getting a pet insurance for our beloved Schatze, what do you think about pet insurance and what is the best in the market? I would appreciate your comments. Thank you.

You need to also find out if your Vet excepts pet insurance some don't.

At our shelter, we recommend ShelterCare Insurance when pets are adopted out. The trial version for one month is $1. It is highly recommended for any animal leaving a shelter.

Both of my dogs have pet insurance through ASPCA Pet Health Insurance. October marks one year of them having insurance and I LOVE it! Due to past medical problems, Joe is only able to have accident insurance, which runs around $9 a month. Daisy has accident and illness insurance, which then covers cuts, tears, breaks, as well as things like urinary tract infections etc and it runs around $17 a month. They have a once a year $100 deductible, which I really liked because a lot of places have a PER CLAIM deductible. In the last year, they've gotten stitches 2-3 times and staples (Daisy) once and the insurance company was great and easy to work with and covers 80% of the vet bill. I've been more than satisfied and while a lot of people say "Pet insurance is a rip off, put money in a savings account!" the $9x12 months that we would have had in a savings account comes no where near the hundreds of dollars that the insurance company has paid out and same thing with Daisy on her higher $16 premium. AND, despite having several claims in the last year, Joe's insurance only went up 49 cents for this upcoming year.

Eight paws up for ASPCA Pet Health Insurance here!

I too have been considering getting insurance for my 3 dogs so I am very interested in seeing the responses you get to your question. With the prices on everything today, this seems like a necessity. I did read online about a few different ones and many comments by people said they had a hard time getting the insurance company to pay up. I also heard VIP was good and was considering going with that one. Can't wait to hear what others have to say.

Check with your local vet and see what they recommend. I think in the past I have used VIP and it was good. I had to pay for things and they sent me 80% back and yearly things were covered 100%. I have had United Pet Care in the past and that was not good coverage and you had to go to their vets. My vet did belong then they dropped it and I had a years memebership and could not use it. Hope this helps
