Q: Palin the wolf killer

How does everyone feel about how the wolves are being killed in Alaska? For me personally I feel it is wrong and it should be done differently. If the wolf population is out of control then they should have a season for them, which they might already have, not sure. If this is the case then why are they still using the aerial shooting. Which is not accurate and some of them do suffer.

I decided to change my question around a little bit here. This was not intended to be a thing about if you like Palin or if you don't, the matter here is the wolves not Palin. And that's what I wanted to discuss. I'm very sorry if some of you took it the wrong way, I just happen to love wildlife and would like to see it protected.

I don't believe you should be able to pick of animals from helicopters with guns - criminals get treated better than that!! I don't like hunting, unless the person is going to actually eat the meat. I'll never understand 'killing for fun'.

I am sorry that I missed Larry King to hear about this, but I am a supporter of Defenders of Wildlife and here is a link www.defenders.org/wildlife_and_habitat/wildlife/wolf,_gray.php Look to the bottom for conservation efforts in nine states. I also support the Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary. After so many years of reintroducing the wolves to make up for the shameless slaughter of them through the '70's, do you really think there could be too many? What a waste of time and money those programs will be if we allow this to continue - aerial hunting is inhumane and absurd. There are many ways for the ranchers and herders to live with the wolf. As for Palin, don't get me started. She has no regard for conservaton at all. Didn't she state that the polar bears should be hunted since they'll be extinct soon anyway???

I am a hunter and this is the crap that happens that gives those of us that do it right a bad name. This is not hunting. Hunting about population control and honest sport at the same time. Also true hunters don't waste. Shooting an animal like this to just lay is a crime. Just sounds Inhumane

I am not a hunter but many in my family are. I understand that hunting that thins an over population that doesn't have an adequate food supply and habitat is needed. Hunting from an aircraft is not hunting. It doesn't pit the hunter against nature or the cunning of the animal, it's not hunting but slaughter and the only rush the so called hunter gets is to have killed something and that is a bit scarey. Not soemone I would want to have with their finger on the button.

I just received an email from Defenders of Wildlife saying their fund president is going to appear on Larry King tonight (2/6) and will discuss this very issue among other things. Over 45,000 people have sent messages thru this organization calling for the end of this aerial slaughter.

Shooting an animal without any chance of a accurate, 'clean kill' is sanctioned cruelty. True 'culling' is sometimes an unfortunate necessity but it is always done with the skill to cause minimal suffering for the animal. Shooting from small planes and helicopters is a perverse act.

I live in one of the lower 48 states that are home to the gray wolf. Wolves are still protected in Montana, but controlled hunting of them will be allowed eventually, because the wolf recovery plan begun in 1995 has been a big success. Just as wolves prey on the young or weak bison, deer, and elk of Yellowstone Park, they will be hunted to ensure healthy populations. The basic hunter's principle of fair chase must be adhered to.

she makes me SICK!! I am so glad she is not in the VP office, but that only means she is in alaska killing more wolves. I feel so sorry for an animal that has NO chance!! ZERO chance. what has the world come to that you can shoot living things from a helocopter and it's something to brag about! she makes me SICK!

I don't think this is the forum to get into your dislike of Sarah Palin. You should address your points to the legal points regarding the control of wolves.
