The odds are just about non-existent that the shrew you found has rabies. If the shrew were caught by a rabid animal it is unlikely to survive to be able to transfer the disease. They are mainly insectivores so the odds of them eating an infected animal are low. Plus it sounds like it was acting normal. It didn't attack; it just defending itself the only way it knew how. I'm sure you can google them & find out everything you need to know.
