Need som help

My uncle's dog got out recently and a family on vacation in the area picked him up. They decided to call my uncle to tell him that they got Murf when they got back home to Omaha, Nebraska. (He live at the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri)
They say that they aren't going to make a special trip back down to give my uncle his dog back, so we have to wait until Memorial day (May 09) to get Murf back.

Is there anything we can do to make them give us Murf back before then. Because currently none of us can go get him because Mu uncle is taking care of my Grandma and the rest of us all have busy schedules to where we can't just go to Nebraska.

(There is a bit more information in my journal is anyone is curious.)

It is illegal to harbor a stray or to remove it from the state! Call animal control asap so they don't go get rid of the dog.

It sounds like theft (or dognapping) to me! Since the "theft" occurred in Missouri, perhaps you can take the information to the District Justice's office in the relevant jurisdiction and file a theft charge. If the District Justice is willing to accept the charge, s/he might send a citation to the "thief" who will then have maybe 10 days to respond--and possibly have to apear in court in Missouri.

I'd suggest that you contact the District Justice's office to get some advice on filing charges.

it sounds to me like they wanted to keep the dog but when they got him home it didn't work out so they called. i guess you were lucky to have the chance to get him back. is there a way you could arange to have him shipped back home to you.
