We found a baby squirrel this evening. Does anybody out there have experience in taking care of one? We have it in a little basket with the remains of the nest that blew out of the tree.

I would also advise calling your local ENCON officers, they usually know of organizations that do wildlife rehabilitations.

I'd call animal control. We rescued one after one of my dogs had it in his mouth. The poor baby was water logged from the storm that knocked him out of the tree. Animal control told us to put dog food in milk & try to feed him that way, which I thought was weird (aren't they herbivores?). He wouldn't eat, but I made sure that the milk touched his lips, so he might swallow some. We were lucky to release him & his mama scooped him up & brought him to her nest!

I really don't know, Give some pediolite till you get to a pet store I guess use an eyedropper & esbilac puppy formula, also eyedropper their are sites on here just put in baby squirrel care, and see if there is an wildlife refuge around or a phone # to ask them what to do, animals lie that are so hard to care for, they literally get scared to death, wild rabbits are the same, wish I could help, good luck

You can try calling the DNR..
There is a program where i live that takes in babies and fosters them and when they are grown are released back into the wild..
