another thing I thought of...don't be in a hurry to find a dog. I got very fusturated when I was looking. Remember that rescues have people who volunteer their time and most work full time paying jobs on top of what they do. So give them a chance to get back to you and get you approved for an adoption of one of their animals. You can also check on here for shelters near you and also go to the site ("Petfinder.com)" I found many shelters this way that are near me that I never knew existed.

Check local shelters. Many pure breed dogs are turned into shelters everyday. When I was looking for a German Shepherd, I found many pure and mixed breeds, puppies and adults. Don't rule out adult dogs. I just adopted a 2 year old GSD two months ago and he is perfect and already adjusted to our home. GOOD LUCK!

Be very careful. You may very well end up with a puppy mill dog. May look cute and sweet and then develop problems later on. Check with a local rescue group for advise and reputable breeders.

Look online for a breed specific rescue. Good Luck hope you find the perfect addition to your family. But remember an older animal or one that is not exactly what you were looking for will bring you just as much joy and you will be saving a life.12 million animals senter shelters each year and 9 million are euthanized. Just something to consider.
