Q: my horse only trustsme why?

we got my horse 6 years ago but the only person she trusts is me if my dad comes over even if i'm holding her she bolts. see she used to be roped to be caught so i'm the only one that she will let catch her in the feild. but she is perfect for me once i catch her i could drop her rope and she will not go anywhere but why only me i'm also the only person that can touch her head because she used to be roped. just need anwsers

did u adopt your horse or get it from a auction?? if so you dont always know what has happened she could very well have been abused! how was she when you first bought her?? was she timid or relaxed? i would suggest if he really wants the horse to like him just 2 be with the horse sit in the pasture and read a book an hour a day..

she could have been abused by men or if he is scared of her then she will be scared of him. Horses can sence when someone is scared or tence. anger doesn't help either. If he spent some time with her so that she could learn to trust him then she could learn that he's not going to hurt her.

as lesa said this mare was probably abused or scared by her former owners. feel proud that she has picked you to trust. it takes time to teach a scared horse that you are a friend
